My Book

"Why didn't I know this was happening to you?"
After reading my book, A Worthy Woman, my mother wept as she realized what I had gone through. I was stunned. Had I not fled to her home on several occasions, bruised and battered? Yet her reaction is typical. People find it hard to comprehend that domestic violence really happens in the home of a "normal" couple. Consequently, eyes of family and friends are closed to the abuse until someone gets murdered.

The first part of my book tells my story. The second part of the book has clear and concise advice for the victim, the abuser and the parents of the children involved in abuse. A Worthy Woman addresses the issues of why both men and women get caught up in the web of domestic violence and how they can break free from its grip.

"A powerful book. I recommend it highly."

Dr. Wayne Dyer,
There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem

"This book needs to be out there for everyone. It's educational, inspirational and heartbreaking. It is written in a way that will interest everyone who picks it up and they won't even realize they're being educated. A must read."

Denise Brown,
Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation

"This book is a must read not just for the victims of abuse but for those who care for them. It puts a real face to the statistics and 'book learning'. If a beautiful, bright articulate woman can get caught up in this horror, it could also be your client, your neighbor, your sister ... yourself. Read it for your professional growth, read it to save someone you love."

Dr. Diane Marshall-Morgan,
Psychologist and Author

"This book should be a manual for all abused women who enter the 'system' — whether the legal, social services, or mental health services. It will show them 'A to Z' about stages and steps to overcome their fears and uncertainties and it will inspire and instill hopes for the future!"

Dr. Hoda Amine,
Director of Family Domestic
Violence Intervention Program

"A truthful, touching story written by a psychologist herself. The self-help is based on real life. Not to be missed!"

Dr. Mary Franzen Clark,
Hiding Hurting Healing

"A Worthy Woman is indispensable for healthcare professionals as first points of contact for many victims. The knowledge gained from this book will inspire heightened awareness and compassion, ultimately saving lives."

Cheryl B. Siegwald-Mays RN, MBA,
Director of Mental Health
at a Metropolitan Hospital
